Danbury Volunteer Fire Battalion - Thirty-One is made up of four Danbury Volunteer fire companies with their own histories. This page is dedicated to our "core four" companies that saw the benefit of consolidations to become stronger.

2018 - The "core four" companies came together to discuss the possibility of consolidating the companies in order to become one stronger unit.
March 18, 2019 - First Organizational Meeting of "The Battalion". We elected our first officers at this meeting
April 25, 2019 - State of Connecticut officially recognizes the Battalion as a business entity with the acceptance of our Certificate of Incorporation.
July 11, 2019 - The Battalion adopts the by-laws of the organization at the July General Membership Meeting.
January 8, 2020 - The battalion holds its second elections in its history. There is one change in the officers, but the notable event at this meeting is the first election of Battalion Fire Chief - Charlie Coakley.
2020 - COVID-19 PANDEMIC Hits the United States
January 6, 2021 - The Battalion holds its annual elections. This year is significant because it will be the first time we elect the First and Second Assistant Chiefs, Paul Salvatore and Jim Gay.
March 29, 2021 - Danbury Volunteer Fire Battalion - 31 is recognized by the U.S. Department of Treasury - Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) public charity effective back to April 25, 2019.
2022
January 5, 2022 - The Battalion holds its annual elections. This year is significant because we elected the full slate of fire officers per our by-laws. This is because we're confident that 2022 will probably be the year we work on recognition by the City of Danbury which will lead to the full business merger of our four companies into the one business unit..
2023
January 4, 2023 - The Battalion held its annual elections (see new Officers Page). In December 2022, the City of Danbury completed an ordinance change that recognized the Battalions into the Danbury Fire Department. This means 2023 will year we complete the full business merger of our four companies into the one business unit.
March 15, 2023 - Battalions 19 and 31 held a Joint Consolidation Ceremony at Danbury City Hall at 6 PM. At that time, the Core Four Companies of Battalion 31 signed papers to officially merge the operations of the four companies into one unified business unit. This paperwork will be transmitted to the Connecticut Secretary of the State and the four will officially become one.
March 19, 2023 - Battalion 31 officially put up the Battalion Logo on the Germantown Road Battalion Headquarters. This will be the base of operations for Battalion 31 and until the addition is completed, we will run Engine 11 and Tanker 11 out of the Battalion 31 - Beaver Brook Station and Squad 7 will run out of the Battalion 31 - Locust Avenue Station. Battalion 31 - North Street station will not have equipment respond out of that building and it will serve as business storage until it is turned over to the City of Danbury in later 2023.
2024
January 3, 2024 - The battalion held its annual elections (see Officers Page). The battalion also broke ground on the 2,500 square foot addition to the back of the headquarters facility. This addition once completed will allow us to have all battalion apparatus on one site.
